Absolutely not. ETA Beater tracks your speed and will penalize you for exceeding posted speed limits. Beating the ETA usually comes from better route choices, traffic timing, and efficient driving — not from speeding. We actively promote safe driving in our Terms of Service.
You earn XP for beating Google's ETA. The more you beat it by, the more points you earn. Bonus XP is awarded for win streaks and route deviation (taking a different path than Google suggested and still winning). Points accumulate on the global leaderboard.

This app does NOT encourage, promote, or endorse speeding, reckless driving, street racing, or any illegal activity. Always obey all traffic laws, speed limits, and road signs. 1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using ETA Beater ("the App," "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of any changes.
2. Nature of the Service
ETA Beater is a gamified travel-tracking application that allows users to compare their actual travel times to estimated times of arrival (ETAs) provided by third-party navigation services such as Google Maps. The App assigns points based on time comparisons for entertainment purposes only.
The App is not a navigation tool. It does not provide driving directions, route guidance, or real-time navigation. Users should always use a proper navigation app for directions and should always drive safely and within the law.
3. Safe Driving & Legal Compliance
This is the most important section of these Terms. By using ETA Beater, you expressly acknowledge and agree to the following:
No encouragement to speed. The App does NOT encourage, incentivize, or reward speeding. Beating an ETA estimate does not require exceeding speed limits — ETA estimates are algorithmic predictions that are frequently inaccurate due to traffic, weather, route choice, and other factors.
No encouragement to race. The App does NOT encourage, facilitate, or promote street racing, drag racing, or any form of competitive driving on public roads. The term "challenge" refers solely to comparing your trip time against a computer-generated estimate — NOT against other drivers on the road.
No encouragement to break any law. The App does NOT encourage running red lights, ignoring stop signs, driving recklessly, driving while distracted, driving under the influence, or violating any local, state, federal, or international traffic law.
You must obey all traffic laws. You agree to obey all posted speed limits, traffic signals, road signs, and applicable laws at all times while using the App.
You must not use the App while driving. You agree that you will NOT interact with, look at, or operate the App while actively operating a motor vehicle. The App should only be set up before driving and checked after arriving at your destination. A passenger may operate the App on the driver's behalf.
You drive at your own risk. All driving decisions are entirely your own. The App bears no responsibility for your driving behavior, route choices, or speed. You are solely responsible for operating your vehicle safely.
Distracted driving is dangerous and illegal. Many jurisdictions prohibit the use of mobile devices while driving. You agree to comply with all applicable distracted driving laws.
4. How the Points System Works
Points are awarded based on the difference between a navigation app's ETA prediction and your actual arrival time. ETA predictions are often inaccurate because they estimate traffic conditions, and conditions change. Beating an ETA typically results from:
Traffic being lighter than predicted
Choosing a more efficient route
The algorithm overestimating congestion
Traveling during off-peak hours
Favorable signal timing
At no point does the App reward, encourage, or require users to exceed posted speed limits to earn points. The points system is purely for entertainment and gamification purposes. Points have no monetary value and cannot be redeemed for anything.
5. User Accounts & Conduct
You may create an account using a username or Google Sign-In. You agree to:
Provide accurate information
Not impersonate another person
Not use offensive, threatening, or inappropriate usernames
Not attempt to manipulate the leaderboard through fraudulent means
Not use the App for any illegal purpose
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms or engages in behavior we deem harmful.
6. Assumption of Risk & Disclaimer
DRIVING A MOTOR VEHICLE IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS. By using ETA Beater, you acknowledge that you assume all risks associated with driving, including but not limited to accidents, injuries, property damage, and death.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate. ETA estimates from third-party services are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only and may not reflect actual travel conditions.
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ETA BEATER, ITS CREATORS, OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Personal injury or death
Property damage
Traffic violations, fines, or citations
Accidents or collisions
Loss of data
Any other damages arising from your use of the App or your driving behavior
YOU AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF THE APP AND ALL DRIVING DECISIONS ARE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. Under no circumstances shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid to use the App (which is $0 for free users).
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ETA Beater, its creators, operators, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:
Your use of the App
Your driving behavior
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
Any claim by a third party arising from your conduct
9. Data & Privacy
The App may collect and store the following information:
Account information: Username, email address (if provided), Google account info (if used for sign-in)
Usage data: Challenge results, points, statistics, and leaderboard rankings
Location data: GPS coordinates during active challenges (only while you are actively using the tracking feature)
Saved places: Home, work, and favorite addresses you choose to save
Data is stored locally on your device and may be synced to cloud services (Firebase/Firestore) for cross-device access. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Location data is used solely for trip tracking functionality and is not shared externally.
10. Third-Party Services
The App uses third-party services including Google Maps API, Google Sign-In, and Firebase. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services.
11. Age Requirement
You must be at least 16 years old and hold a valid driver's license (or be a passenger in a vehicle operated by a licensed driver) to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting your account data.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and ETA Beater regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
